Business model for self-employed graphic designer?

I've doing some research and can't seem to find a straight answer, so I thought I'd ask here. Fellow graphic designers, how did you set-up your self-employment...did you file as sole proprietorship and then upgrade to another business model or did you file as LLC or as S Corporation? If any accountants or anyone knows, that would help out a lot. Thank you in advance.
