Why does my computer restart when saving game data on sims 2 seasons?

my daughter recently installed sims 2 seasons. ever since, when she tries to save her session the computer restarts and svaes nothing. we already have sims 2 deluxe installed and it works perfectly. we followed the instructions on how to not corrupt the original files but it still won't save. hlp pleeze!
